I made them at 8.5x11 inch, and I would glue at least the ruins to a ceralbox or other stiff or heavy card...then the nice version printed on cardstock or could be glued to construction paper or similar and slid over the ruins. OR, if you don't want to mess with the ruins just glue the nice building to anything you like; matteboard, thin wood, cereal box, if you go thicker you have to put relief cuts at the folds, or otherwise account for material thickness, if you stick with cereal box weight board you can glue reinforcing bits of card or wood inside the building to stiffen and strengthen it. sometimes I build my buildings and will stuff a bit of glue dampened paper towel into difficult spots to help keep them from deforming. I also put bits of toothpick or craft stick inside my buildings for added strength. like angle struts or running behind a bend.
